Founding Principles:

  • Extension opportunities should be available both within and outside of the school day to young people presented by highly qualified people who demonstrate a deep understanding of the subject and posses an ability to explain and inspire. The interest of the child should be the major determinant of entrance in to extension programs.
  • Young people want authentic and experiential learning that enrich their understanding and imagination.
  • Learning environments must reflect real life, be open and built on mutual understanding and respect. Moral and psychological development is an essential component of learning.
  • Early identification and expert intervention of reading and writing learning deficits should be aggressively pursued.
  • Teachers should act and present themselves professionally and conduct themselves in a manner that is worthy of the respect of the young people they have an opportunity to shape.
